Background
The Solution
The Solution is to design a donation site as a gate keeper to connect different types of donors to their interested charities and causes. As an intermidiate platform, Giving As We Go. Org would be able to learn from the data and find the best matches for both the donors and the charities, and the same time, create a reliable donation environment by ensuring the data privacy of the users.
The Process
To build the donation platform, I approach the solution by asking three key problems:
1. How could our new service interact with the outside world and take advantage of the established ecosystem and resources?
2. How could we find the best matches for both the philanthropies and the donors in the most effective way?
3. How can we channel the good energy and keep the momentum going?
By tackling each problem, I would be able to map out the system, manage the information architecture and design the interfaces step by step
How could our new service interact with the outside world and take advantage of the established ecosystem and resources?
💡Zoom Out & Think Big
The brief of design is clear and simple: To design the interface of a donation website that could enable the registered users to make donations and enable the philanthropies to share their stories and better receive the money. However, there is no way that the new service could stand alone. So I start by putting this donation platform into a map of the existing services. This would help Giving As We Go.Org to take advantage of the ecosystem to draw attention from our potential users, and at the same time, maintain the stickiness of our members.
💡Break it Down & Define the Task
After mapping out the system and resources. It is time to think about how we want different users navigate themselves through our service. A Task flow would be perfect for me to think through all the experiecnes and features before I further structure the websites.
